Nissan Quest Minivan Price Drop
As the economy picks up, we're seeing innovation and new models almost everywhere throughout the automotive industry. So many new eco friendly vehicles, impressive sporty luxury cars and thanks to the rebound in the housing industry, new pickup trucks. What we're not seeing though are minivans. With the current popularity of crossovers, are the days of the minivan numbered? GM and Ford have given up, opting to push their new crossovers to families instead. Kia and Volkswagen have also dropped out of the minivan market, though they say it's temporary. Chrysler has owned the minivan segment for well over 25 years, and still continues to enjoy a 50% market share in Canada. Number two and three, Toyota and Honda have held steady with revised versions of their Odyssey and Sienna respectively. More

Nissan's Project Titan
Some of you might have heard about Nissan announcing Project Titan at the 2014 Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade show earlier this year in Las Vegas. The auto maker crowdsourced ideas from it's fans to modify a Titan pickup truck, making it capable to handle extreme off-roading. The heavily modified and fortified truck will be heading to Alaska, to be driven in the backcountry by two Wounded Warrior Project Alumni, David Guzman and Kevin McMahon, and an automotive journalist to see what the upgraded truck can handle. Fans were encouraged to vote on 10 different areas of customization on a 2014 Titan Crew Cab PRO-4X. Keeping the aesthetics rugged looking, the truck was wrapped in digital camouflage with a Wounded Warrior Project emblem. More

Cars That Can Detect Drunk Drivers
For the last few years, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has been advocating for technological solutions to prevent drunk driving. The federal safety regulators are working closely with suppliers to develop seamless technology to be integrated into vehicles that would detect alcohol via breath and touch, and possibly even disable a vehicle, reducing or eliminating alcohol-related vehicle crashes. At a recent conference in Michigan, the NHTSA's associate administrator for vehicle safety research Nat Beuse said: "Lots of companies are out there trying to make the situation better." The agency is working on several technologies to reduce traffic fatalities, including alcohol detection technology. Safety products supplier Takata Corp. received a $2.2 million contract from the agency to develop a device to measure the sobriety of a motorist. Another supplier, Autoliv, is developing the sobriety systems. The technologies could be ready for implementation by 2018, once development and testing is complete. It is not yet determined whether the systems would disable a vehicle or issue an alert. More
